We recently went over some information about the upcoming 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime, the first-ever plug-in hybrid electric variant of the Toyota RAV4; however, it’s not the first Toyota vehicle to use the Prime nameplate. Next year we’ll be seeing a slightly enhanced version of the Toyota Prius Prime as well, the plug-in version of the iconic Prius line of hybrid vehicles. It’s not getting completely redesigned but will be receiving a few updates, so we thought we’d highlight those for you here today.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0
For starters, the 2021 Prius Prime will be getting upgraded from having the Toyota Safety Sense-P package to the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of driver-assistive technologies as standard features. The next-gen safety suite includes the Pre-Collision System with both Pedestrian and Bicyclist Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist.
Available Exterior Color Options
Additionally, there’s a new exterior color option for the 2021 model year. Choices returning from last year include Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Titanium Glow, the Prius Prime-exclusive Blue Magnetism and Supersonic Red. In addition to these, the former option Blizzard Pearl White is being replaced by the new Wind Chill Pearl.
Other Specs & Features
Although that’s all that’s new for the 2021 model year, there is still plenty to get excited about with the Toyota Prius Prime. It’s a technological marvel packed full of outstanding content and offers the benefits not only of being an incredibly fuel-efficient hybrid vehicle but the ability to operate in all-electric mode, adding an estimated 25 miles of EV driving.
