Even if you’re not an enthusiast, you’ve probably heard the legendary Supra name at some point in your life. Perhaps the most iconic vehicle the brand has ever built, the Toyota Supra traces its roots back to 1978 when it was called the Celica Supra. The legendary sports car was discontinued in 2002 to the dismay of many fans across the globe, but the 2020 model year saw the return of a legend. Now, the 2021 Toyota Supra is available here in Lima OH, and we’re stoked about its continued success.
Only in its sophomore year, the 2021 model year saw a surprising number of enhancements get introduced in the GR Supra. The GR Supra 3.0, for example, has received a power boost as well as revised tuning in its chassis. The 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine has been increased from 335 horsepower to 382 hp for the new model year, alongside a 3-pound-foot increase in torque. This improves the vehicle’s acceleration from 4.1 seconds to 3.9 s for its 0-60 miles per hour time.
For those shoppers who love the aesthetic of the GR Supra but don’t want that much power, perhaps preferring fuel economy to performance, the new GR Supra 2.0 might be the right model four you. It’s the first-ever Supra model to be powered by a 4-cylinder engine. It won’t be quite as quick or powerful, dropping to 255 hp and 295 lb-ft. of torque and a 0-60 time of around 5 seconds, but it’s a much more affordable and lightweight option than the Supra 3.0.
Furthermore, Toyota is introducing its first special edition trim level, the A91 Edition. This special limited model will only see 1,000 units built, powered by the 3.0L engine and available in either Nocturnal or Refraction for its exterior color – the latter of which is a brand-new option that’s exclusive to the A91 Edition. The model will include other unique design cues and features as well.
